Executive Team

Timothy T. Goodnow, PhD

President & CEO

Tim Goodnow is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Senseonics, Inc. 

Tim joined the Senseonics Board of Directors in December 2010 and in March 2011 was named President & CEO. Tim has been instrumental in commercializing the first 90-day Eversense CGM System in Europe and the 180-day product - Eversense XL - which is now distributed in more than 15 countries. He also successfully launched Eversense in the U.S. only 40 days after FDA approval. Tim continues to drive innovation, product development and new technology for future CGM systems.

Prior to Senseonics, Tim was Vice President of Technical Operations at Abbott Diabetes Care. He also held executive positions at TheraSense, Verax Biomedical, Dade Behring and Baxter Healthcare.

Tim earned his PhD and Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at the University of Miami.

Mukul Jain, PhD

Chief Operating Officer

Mukul Jain is the Chief Operating Officer at Senseonics, Inc.

Mukul is responsible for overseeing Quality, Regulatory, Product Development and Global Operations - including manufacturing and supply chain. 

Prior to joining Senseonics, Mukul spent 13 years at Medtronic working on active implantable devices in CRDM and Neuromodulation space. He was responsible for managing the development of Neurostimulator systems in spinal cord stimulation and sacral nerve stimulation. Prior to that, he worked at Medtronic Energy and Components Center developing various critical components used across Medtronic’s implantable devices.

Mukul earned his MBA from Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina and a B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Francine R. Kaufman, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Francine R. Kaufman is the Chief Medical Officer at Senseonics, Inc.

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kaufman is dedicated to helping drive the innovation platform and the clinical value proposition of the Eversense CGM system. As one of the world’s leading endocrinologists, she brings a deep understanding of the global medical, research, and clinical diabetes community. Her track record of applying novel technologies to advance diabetes care for patients make her ideally suited for her role.

Dr. Kaufman’s career spans almost 40 years in diabetes care.  She is a dedicated pediatric endocrinologist and has served as director of the Comprehensive Childhood Diabetes Center, and head of the Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Kaufman is also a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Pediatrics and Communications at the Keck School of Medicine and the Annenberg School of Communications of the University of Southern California.  She was formerly the president of the American Diabetes Association, chair of the National Diabetes Education Program and elected to the National Academy of Medicine.  She is the author of over 250 scientific manuscripts and numerous books, including Diabesity: The Obesity-Diabetes Epidemic That Threatens America and  the ADA’s Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitoring: A User’s Guide to Effective Diabetes Management.  Dr. Kaufman is an active philanthropist working with numerous organizations and charities around the world aimed at improving the lives of people with diabetes. She was also an advisor to the Governor on the California Initiative on Health, Fitness and Obesity.  Most recently Dr. Kaufman served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Global Clinical, Regulatory and Medical Affairs at Medtronic Diabetes.

Dr. Kaufman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and was the Valedictorian of her class at Chicago Medical School.

Rick Sullivan

Chief Financial Officer

Rick Sullivan is the Chief Financial Officer at Senseonics, Inc.

Rick is responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting. Rick first joined Senseonics in 2011 and has served as the Vice President of Finance, Treasurer, Head of Strategy and Financial Reporting and Corporate Controller.

Prior to rejoining Senseonics in 2020, Rick served as Chief Financial Officer for RoosterBio, Inc., a privately held regenerative medicine company and as the Principal of Hike Financial, LLC, an advisory firm that provides financial, accounting and administrative services to early growth, life sciences and technology companies.

Rick received his M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business, his B.S. in accounting from Salisbury University, Perdue School of Business. Rick maintains an active CPA license in the state of Maryland.

Brian Hansen

Chief Commercial Officer

Brian Hansen was appointed as our Chief Commercial Officer in January 2026 and previously served as Ascensia's President of CGM since February 2024. Brian is an executive with over 30 years of commercial experience in the medical device, life sciences and diagnostic industries. Prior to joining Ascensia, he served as EVP and CCO at Tandem Diabetes Care since 2016. Prior to that, Brian held key leadership roles at Adaptive Biotechnologies, Novartis, Gen-Probe and Fisher Scientific. Brian received his MBA from San Diego State University and his BSBA from the University of Missouri.

Ken Horton

General Counsel and Corporate Development Advisor

Ken Horton has served as our General Counsel and Corporate Development Advisor since October 2017. Prior to joining the Company, Ken was Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Vertex Pharmaceuticals from 2012 to 2015. Prior to joining Vertex, Ken served as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at MDS Inc., and its successor Nordion Inc. from 2005 to 2012. He also served as Vice President, Acquisitions, Ventures and General Counsel for the Life and Analytical Sciences business unit of PerkinElmer, Inc. and in other roles from 2000 to 2005. Ken previously practiced law at the law firm Ropes & Gray and was a strategy consultant in both the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Horton received his AB from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
